From where can I get Aloe Vera gel

Own Aloe Vera Plant

Best source for Aloe Vera gel is your own Aloe Vera plant, it has all effective compounds intact. If you use the gel soon after preparation you will not lose any important ingredient.

Get your own Aloe Vera and let it grow in a pot near window to guarantee sunlight. Aloe Vera is easy to take care of. Just do not give it too much water and let it enjoy sunlight.

When the plant is big enough you can cut one leaf.

Cut carefully the stem away using sharp knife. The leaf will leak yellow bile liquid that is very harmful to your skin. Do not let even a drop into your gel.

Cut both sides of the leaf away. After that you can remove both upper part and below part of the leaf.

You should have a thin slice of bright gel in your hand.

Crush the gel using a fork or any other tool in order to get a clear paste.

The paste will last in a fridge about a week. Do not use plastic container, a glass one is best. You can improve the shelf life up to one month by adding ascorbic acid to the gel.

You can always freeze the gel; small ice cube boxes are good.

How to use aloe vera powder

You can buy Aloe Vera powder from several shops and online shops selling compounds and materials for diy- cosmetics. The powder is usually very strong. Mixing ratio is 1:200. It means roughly that from 1 gram of the powder you will get 2 deciliters gel.  The powder has been criticized because it is heavily refined. There are not necessarily all effective ingredients left anymore.

Aloe Vera juice

You can buy also bottled Aloe Vera. It is foodstuff-qualified juice so it is even more pure than the powder. Because it is virgin quality (cold-pressed) it contains more effective ingredients than powder.  There are controversial opinions as well. Preservatives are added to the juice like ascorbic acid and citric acid.

Could Aloe Vera gel be harmful or dangerous to your health?

This is a good question. We can be allergic to anything and everything or be oversensitive.  So, it is better to test the gel first in a small area of your skin. Allergic reaction may follow in days so be patient. In case there is no reaction it is still better to start with smaller areas. This goes as well with juice, it is better to test it on your skin first before drinking.

If you have an Aloe Vera plant in your home never use just cut Aloe Vera direct to your skin or eat it.  Most probably there are at least some remains of yellow bile liquid which is very harmful. This yellow bile liquid is sometimes used as a very strong laxative. Always follow instructions given above when dealing with Aloe Vera.

There are some lousy quality Aloe Vera products for sale, mainly briquets for internal use which may cause serious symptoms to some people. Be aware of the quality of your purchases.

Aloe Vera is widely used in many kinds of cosmetic products. Generally, it has not caused serious oversensitive reactions. If you do not get allergic reactions from cosmetic products you most probably will not get any from Aloe Vera either.

Your own comments about Aloe Vera would be highly appreciated.
